Viking longboats & Short Boats, Rudyard Lake, Sunday 27th May, 2012
‘Del’s Historic Re-enactment Society were to practice rowing/sailing on Rudyard in preparation for inclusion in the Jubilee flotilla on the Thames. Assorted members of the club drifted to Rudyard during the day and some took canoes or kayaks too.
Coo ... that’s a big canoe ...
The Motley Crew .... Ann, Diana, Nettie, Mike, Briony, Chris & Fiona.
Karen, Flossie, John I (behind the Camera), ‘Del, Tom and John B also were there on the day.
Name that boat?
Mike’s “new” baby Mobile Adventure” canoe, 13’4” long, 28” wide was collected and then rolled in Biddulph pool the day before ... it’s second outing was to Rudyard ... it’s fast, it tracks really well and has the turning circle of a Jumbo Jet ... it’s not a Minuet ... at least we don’t think it is ... any thoughts?
Some folks just have to get wet ....
Flossie 1st with a throw toy ...
And then John B ... successfully rolling on both sides.
Some of us then found a far less energetic way to cool down ...
Then it’s time to make tracks ... first the Longboat ...
